It was a gloomy, rainy day in London, one of those days where you’d rather curl up in your bed all day than leave the house. Not this Saturday, though, because CloseUp festival presented some of England’s finest up-and-coming indie and electronic artists. The sold out event took place in Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, a fairly small but gorgeous venue with two different stages. While the mainstage was pretty dark lit despite the chandelier dangeling from the ceiling and saw a lot of haze during the day, the Green Room stage on the other hand had a very cute setup with fairy lights all over the window wall.
With the timetable having the first band of the day, GLASS PEAKS, starting off at 2pm and every band playing for roughly 30 minutes, CloseUp and the artists did an amazing job with sticking to the schedule and there being hardly any delays.
All the bands won over the audience with their incredible talent and skills but the highlight oft he festival was probably FOURS who attracted a big crowd and had the Green Room bursting at its seams. Their uplifting pop sound had everyone dancing without a care in the world.
All in all, CloseUp was a huge success and is definitely worth going to and if you missed this year, you should absolutely check out everyone on the lineup.

Es war ein trüber und verregneter Tag in London, einer dieser Tage, an denen man sich einfach am liebsten im Bett verkriechen und sein Haus nicht verlassen möchte. Aber nicht letzten Samstag, denn das CloseUp Festival präsentierte einige von Englands vielversprechendsten up-and-coming Indie und Elektro Bands. Das ausverkaufte Event fand in der Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen in Shoreditch statt, eine kleine aber feine Venue mit zwei verschiedenen Bühnenräumen. Die Main Stage war dunkel gehalten und es wurde viel Nebel eingesetzt, die zweite Bühne im Green Room war fast gegensätzlich, durch eine Glasfront, die mit Lichterketten geschmückt war, relativ hell und wirklich schön dekoriert.
Laut Zeitplan sollte die erste Band, GLASS PEAKS, um 14:00 Uhr anfangen, was auch der Fall war. Für jede Band waren ungefähr 30 Minuten eingeplant und an diese Stelle muss man CloseUp ein Lob aussprechen, durch die gute Organisation und Zusammenarbeit mit den Künstlern kam es kaum zu Verzögerungen.
Alle Bands überzeugten das Publikum mit ihrem Talent und Können, aber das Highlight des Tages und Festivals waren sicher FOURS, die eine große Menge anzogen und den Green Raum fast zum platzen brachten. Mit ihrem Pop-Sound brachten sie jeden zum Tanzen und verbreiteten eine Wahnsinnsstimmung.
Das CloseUp Festival war alles in allem ein großer Erfolg und definitiv einen Besuch wert. Wer es dieses Jahr verpasst hat, sollte auf jeden Fall das Lineup auschecken, von einigen der Bands wird man bestimmt in Zukunft noch viel hören.

Die Performances sind auf 2 Bühnen verteilt. Die Main Stage befindet sich im 300 Kapazitäten Raum, während die zweite, etwas kleinere Bühne sich im Green Room befindet, in den ca. 120 Leute passen.

Dieses Mal als Headliner kehrt der Indiepop Artist KYKO aus Südlondon auf die Main Stage zurück. Mit seinen energiegeladenen und einfach ins Ohr gehenden Tracks wird KYKO die Menge sicher zum Tanzen bringen. Um einen Einblick in seinen distinktiven Sound zu bekommen, sollte man die im März 2017 erschienene EP ‘Wildlife’ anhören.

Außerdem auf der Main Stage zu finden sind CHILDCARE, eine Band, die man nicht verpassen sollte. Die Band hinter Frontsinger Ed Cares ist bekannt für ihren lebendigen und kraftvollen Klang. Auch ganz oben auf der Liste sollten für jeden FOURS im Green Room sein. Eine Kombination aus poppigen Melodien und Ediths großartiger Stimme werden aus jedem die besten Moves herauskitzeln.

Zusätzlich zu den bereits genannten Acts besteht das LineUp aus Little Cub, Jerry Williams, No Hot Ashes, The New Coast, Hows Harry and GLASS PEAK auf der Main Stage, während Arcade Hearts, SPINN, Dextric, Submariner und ein noch bekannt zu gebender Headliner den Green Room rocken.

CloseUp hat sich schon in der Vergangenheit als eines von Londons vielversprechensten Indie Events behauptet, wer es also schafft, sollte sich Tickets kaufen, solange sie es noch gibt. Denjenigen, die leider nicht anwesend sein können, sollten zumindest auf jeden Fall die Künstler des diesjährigen LineUps auschecken.

Mark your calendars: On May 12th CloseUp Promotions’ CloseUp festival returns to Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen in the heart of Shoreditch, London. The one day festival will once again present some of the UK’s best up-and-coming indie/electronic artists. The performances will take place on two different stages, the main stage being in the 300 capacity room, while the second stage in the Green Room is set for a capacity of 120.

Returning to the main stage, this time as a headliner, will be South London indie pop artist KYKO. With his energetic and catchy tracks, KYKO is guaranteed to make the crowd move. To get a taste of his distinct sound, check out his ‘Wildlife’ EP which he released in March 2017.

Also playing the main stage are CHILDCARE, one of London’s finest which you wouldn’t want to miss. The band behind lead singer Ed Cares is known for their vibrant and powerful sound with the perfect balance of male and female vocals. In the Green Room make sure to catch FOURS’ set who will make you bust out your best moves with their combination of upbeat tunes and Edith’s stunning vocals.

In addition to the previously mentioned acts, the lineup consists of Little Cub, Jerry Williams, No Hot Ashes, The New Coast, Hows Harry and GLASS PEAK on the main stage, as well as Arcade Hearts, SPINN, Dextric, Submariner and a yet to be announced headliner in the Green Room.

CloseUp has proven in the past to be one of London’s most promising indie events, so make sure to grab your tickets over a DICE or TicketWeb while you still can!
